Ghana Music Week is a music festival
held in Ghana, West Africa to celebrate Ghanaian music, one of Africa’s
thriving music industries. The annually held festival aims to create heightened
awareness and exposure for Ghanaian music and its artists.
This year’s edition promises to be
intriguing with its line-up. The week as defined by organizers starts from
March 1 and ends on March 7, 2016.
Tuesday, 1st March: Media Launch at GH
One TV premises.
Wednesday, 2nd March: Ghana Music Day.
The airwaves shall be filled with Ghanaian music, thus all radio stations are
encouraged to support this initiative to make it a success. Musicians shall
host various shows on selected radio and television stations.
Thursday, 4th March (Climax): Ghana
Music Investment Forum. This is a forum which will educate the invitees on the
topic of investment. It is strictly by invitation and will attract musicians,
artiste managers, music producers, industry workers and the general public. It
will also feature both top local and international resource personnel. The
venue is British Council hall, from 10am to 5pm.
In the evening, 8pm at National
Theater, there’ll be musical performances by Knii Lante, CALABASH, Dela BOTRI,
Wulomei, Obour, Bessa Simmons, Ghana Dance Ensemble and Bibi Brew.
Friday, 5th March: International Music
Expo. A cross-cultural mix-bag with musical performances from USA, UK, India,
China, Jamaica, Denmark, Nigeria, and so on. The venue is National Theater, and
the time is 8pm.
There’ll be a 2-day non-stop musical
carnival at Prof John Evans Atta Mills High Street at Accra. Thus, it’ll start
at 5th March and continue on 6th March at 10am till late.
